The starting point for the research company is the Research Station Ytteborg, Hjermvej 94, DK-7560 Hjerm, Denmark. The station owns a field area of ca. 25 ha, most of it being used to research purposes.

Research Company Ytteborg is an independent company owned by 3 farmers unions “Heden & Fjorden”, “Vestjysk Landboforening” and “Lemvig Egnens Landboforening”. The Research Company carries out about 110-130 field trials per year in corporation with The Danish Agricultural Advisory Center – Plant Production and the three just named farmers unions.

The field trials are placed through out Western Jutland by the members of the three farmers unions and at Ytteborg itself. One of our biggest field trial locations is at Børge Bang Nielsen, Lystlundvej 4, 7500 Holstebro where we carry out part of the National Variety Testing. The trial area amounts to three ha, containing about 2500 plots. The National Variety Testing has been carried out at this location since 1983.

Kartoffellægning med håndAnother research area is the potato field trials, which are located at I/S Kjargaarden, Sundsvej 24, Sunds. We carry out about 20 potato field trials per year including variety testing, plant protection and fertilization among other.

The research company is furthermore an official testing area for fodder plants and corn. The National Variety Testing of corn is placed at Steen Nørgård, Abildholdtvej 7, Hogager, 7540 Haderup.

Besides the trials carried out in corporation with The Danish National Advisory Center we conduct a number of field trials for private companies, mainly testing of new varieties, pesticides and field trials conducted according GEP standards.

The research company owns modern research equipment to conduct small scale field trials. For example a new Haldrup combine, a Haldrup grass harvester and a Wintersteiger sowing machine inclusive research equipment for fertilization and spraying. Furthermore we have a pick-up truck and a truck for transporting machinery.

Høst på YtteborgThe research company Ytteborg is the owner of a GEP-approval. GEP stands for Good Experimental Practice and is a quality management system, based on European Guidelines (EPPO guidelines).

The GEP approval unit at the Agriculture Sciences Faculty at Aarhus University (DJF) leads a ongoing control of the research company’s organization, facilities, methods, research equipment and quality system’s standard regulations.

The GEP-approval is of decisive meaning for many of the trials, which are carried out for private companies, because it is often a requirement, that the trials should be performed according to GEP-rules.
